According to Billie’s management site, Curtis Brown, Billie will be starring in the new four-part drama ‘Collateral’ starring Carey Mulligan. More info on the project below, we will have more details soon!
EXCLUSIVE: Carey Mulligan has been set to star in Collateral, the four-part BBC miniseries that puts her back in business with David Hare. Hare wrote Collateral, which SJ Clarkson is directing and The Forge producing, with production starting in April. The mini is described as a modern-day state of the nation project which takes place over four days.
Mulligan previously worked with Hare when she starred in the recent revival of his play Skylight. She was cast opposite Bill Nighy on the West End and got a Tony nomination when the production moved to Broadway. Mulligan next stars in Mudbound, the Dee Rees-directed film which was the biggest deal of last Sundance, with Netflix paying $12.5 million. Mulligan also stars opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in Wildlife, which marks the directorial debut of Paul Dano.
Mulligan is represented by WME and Julian Belfrage and Associates. Clarkson is repped by WME and Curtis Brown.
BEAST is a little gothic fairytale – the story of three generations of women dealing with the aftermath of divorce. When Alice’s mother, Grace, tells her that her father’s a “beast,” she begins to question who or what she really is. We’re going for something along the lines of Pan’s Labyrinth meets Terms of Endearment – a sprinkling of magical realism mixed with a family drama.
We shot the bulk of the short film last year and headed back for one day in January. We were lucky enough to be supported by Creative England’s Emerging Talent scheme, which got us through the bulk of the shoot but now find ourselves in post production with our credit cards maxed out, desperate to finish our little movie.
You can donate to the short film here, they have already raised £4,000, we can get them to their target in no time!
InStyle: On top of promoting your new movie, you’ve just starred in the Red Nose Day shoot for TK Maxx, what drew you to the campaign?
Billie: I just think Red Nose Day has such creative ways of raising money and I’m always really thrilled when I’m asked to participate. It also means you get to work with some really amazing people.IS: You were working with Rankin and other stars on the shoot, what were the highlights?
B: Everyone was really geared up for the shoot which makes for a joyous atmosphere. It was also great to catch up with Pearl and Daisy [Lowe] – we have a lot of mutual friends. Me and Pearl chatted about raising kids. It’s nice to spend time with another mother, and chat about how draining it can be, have a moan – a funny moan!IS: You recently starred in City Of Tiny Lights, what drew you back to films after such a long break?
B: The timing was just right. I’ve always been locked into a series, and now was the right time to sit back and read scripts. I like the fact this one was from emerging talent – that’s the direction I want to go in next. It was made on a really small budget and that just seems to make shooting really exciting and testing; there was a nice circus, all in it together type of feel because of Pete [Travis, director]. I also love that it’s a script about young people in London in the ‘90s with a serious thriller twist. And then of course there was the opportunity to work with Riz [Ahmed]…
